Inkitt’s New Writing Competition - FATED PARADOX - Is Now Open for Submissions!

What is Inkitt?
Inkitt is a free writing platform where authors can get creative and watch their stories grow, and they’re opening a new writing contest for entries this spring. Inkitt is a place for writers and readers to collaborate, trade feedback and ideas to improve their work. In the long run, Inkitt’s goal is to help writers get the exposure they deserve and the publishing deals they want without worrying about the impediments and unfairness of traditional printing and self-publishing.

Writing Contest: Mystery and Thriller - Fated Paradox
The theme for the contest is “Fated Paradox: Tales of gripping suspense.” Readers want you to keep them on the edge of their seats with your best mystery and thriller stories. Submit accounts of murders and red herrings, or have them biting their nails over stories full of adrenaline and espionage. Leave them breathless with your tales of unmatched suspense.

What are the guidelines? 
Inkitt accepts original fiction stories of any length. Entries must be posted on the Inkitt contest page to be considered eligible. The contest opens on June 4th and closes on July 4th. The contest is completely free to enter, and authors will retain all rights to any and all works submitted in the contest. The top 10% based on reader votes get the chance to be picked by the Inkitt staff for 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes.

Prizes:
1st place: $100 Cash and 5 printed-and-bound copies of story with cover created by Inkitt’s designer

2nd place: $50 Cash

3rd place: $30 Cash

Captivated, right out the gate, is a great story.

Stacy-Deanne delivers a fast-paced thriller with strong characters, intense plot, and wicked twists. I was engrossed with the story's dialogue and the friendship between main characters, Baltimore detectives Lisa Swanson and Dee Quarter, almost as much as I enjoyed the hum of romantic and suspenseful tension that thrummed throughout the story.

Another PLUS to this story? It's the second book in Stacy-Deanne's Bruised series; however, I never felt lost like I needed to read the first book to understand the second. Now, with that said, I'm already on board to head to book one and then check out books three and four. Check out Stacy-Deanne's website to learn more about them yourself!

If you're in need of a quick, engaging thriller that will probably have you dropping your jaw at least once, look no further.

Leakes' Good vs. Evil Tale Is Great Read

A good beginning, complex and engaging characters, and driving plot can woo me... hard. Leakes' good vs. evil tale, SIN EATERS, has all of these components and others, such as some rockin' action. Good vs. evil tales are classic. It's easy to try to write one, but it can be difficult to make the story unique. Leakes doesn't have this problem. Her ability to describe place and atmosphere helps to make this tale her own. Her characters' quirks, conflicts, and actions, again, help to differentiate her from the pack. Leakes' entry into urban paranormal (supernatural thriller added onto that genre title) is a success for me. I look forward to seeing how she further develops and deepens her characters' histories and the world and situations in which they must do battle. For those that love action, paranormal, and fantasy, even thrillers, this is definitely a book to pick up and read. For those that are not... give it a try. You might be surprised.

Sellers, who stops by to talk about her upcoming release, Thrilled to Death, the third in her Detective Wade Jackson series.









When asked, The first book of your series—what came first: the main character of the series or the main situation that arises in the first book, L.J. replied, When I wrote The Sex Club, it was simply a story I was compelled to tell. I felt very passionate about the subject of abstinence-only sex education and the damage it could do to teenagers. But I’m a practical person, so I figured I might as well create a character, a detective, that I could base a series on—if I was fortunate enough to sell the book and readers wanted more."

Mystery Novelist Angela Henry at All the Blog's a Page

All the Blog's a Page is back, and for the month of July, we're talking MYSTERIES and THRILLERS with four authors who know a thing or two about dead bodies and solving crimes. To kick-off the month is an author I have known for years and have always enjoyed her Kendra Clayton Mystery series: Angela Henry. Angela's fourth novel in the series, Schooled in Lies, is out, and she comes to AtBaP to talk about her love of mystery writing and more!















When asked, Who are some of your favorite mystery/suspense novelists, and why, Angela replied, "Agatha Christie because she’s the queen of the whodunit. I’ve modeled my Kendra Clayton series after the village cozy mysteries she’s famous for. Ruth Rendall because she’s so good at psychological suspense. Walter Mosley-Easy Rawlins, need I say more? Janet Evanovich-because she’s hysterical. JK Rowling-because she sure knows a thing or two about world building."
