Oh, yes it's LADIES' NIGHT with Author, Electa Rome Parks - interview

Title of your new book: Ladies' Night Out

Pitch LADIES' NIGHT OUT in 25 words or less.
Meet Lexie, Meshell, Tonya, and Tracee---single, successful, and fierce women who happen to be best friends. Devoted divas since college, they bonded over a monthly ritual to hang out and keep it real. With a little wine, a little drama, and a lot of laughs, they discuss their ambitions, betrayals, families, and without a doubt, the men in their lives. But tonight, ladies' night out arrives with an erotic twist---one that could destroy a loyal bond, or bring four women closer to understanding themselves, their men, and their secret passions than ever before.

What's your favorite thing about LADIES' NIGHT OUT?
My favorite thing is that it explores the special bond of friendship.

Tell us about your journey to publication. (How long did it take you to write your first novel? How long was it from creation to representation to publication?)
It took me approximately eight months to write my first novel, The Ties That Bind. From creation to representation to publication, it took me 2 years and 4 months to get picked up by a mainstream publishing house.

What three pieces of advice would you offer aspiring-to-be-published authors?
Believe in yourself.
Remember, everyone will not like your book.
Anything worth having is worth sacrifice and hard work.

I know that every book written is like a child to the author, but now it's time to play favorites, LOL - Out of the four books you've published ALMOST DOESN'T COUNT, LOOSE ENDS, THE TIES THAT BIND, and LADIES' NIGHT OUT), which has been the most fun to write and why?
See, you are being bad now (LOL). You shouldn't force me to choose. But, if I must, The Ties That Bind would be my choice. The Ties That Bind is the baby of the bunch, and there is and will never be anything like that first experience of penning a manuscript and seeing it blossom into a book that is embraced and loved by many.

How do you spend your time when you're not writing?
I love to read, shop, and go to the movies.

Word association. What comes to mind when you read the following words:
Girlfriends: anchors
Ladies' Night Out: sexy
Lexie: inhibited
Meshell: freaky
Tonya: diva
Tracee: exhibitionist

What are you currently working on?
I'm always working on something. I'm participating in an anthology titled, These Are My Confessions, which drops on July 2007 (Avon Red), and, currently I'm working on my next project. Check out my website at www.electaromeparks.com for future updates.
